1000 word challenge

Before you enter 1000 word challenge, please read our Questions page to find out what we’re looking for and what happens if you win.

Then email your story to contact@1000wordchallenge.com.

Please tell us your full name and the name we should use to publish if you win. Please don’t paste your story into the body of your email.

Your story should be:

on theme - the current theme is on our home page
a Word document – or similar, editable file (such as .rtf or .odt) - no PDFs, please
double spaced
in a 12-point, easy-to-read font

Please include the title at the top of page one but don’t add your name – we judge the competition blind so don’t want to know who’s written each story until we’ve picked the winners.

Pay for entry by clicking on one of the buttons below. It’s £5 to enter or £15 for personalised, structured feedback from the judges. We’ll send your feedback by email within six weeks of the competition closing.

We’ll announce the winners on 15 December 2019.
